S.O.D. C.C. October

No this is not some code you have to work out!! it is just short for Scrap of Difference Cyber Challenge!!
i have been on this site for quite a while now and they have a monthly challenge on the third weekend of each month. the theme for the last one was 'water'.. there is a sketch, a color and a technique challenge..the theme usually gets me wondering... what do i do?? but somehow i create something....and here are my layouts... first the sketch.. i pretty much followed the sketch (it was a page maps one) .. the technique was one i re-created from play group days! dish washing liquid, food coloring and water put in a dish and then air is blown into the mixture with a straw to make bubbles and then the paper is put on top of the bubbles and the pattern is formed on the paper! so much fun! the only thing was the backing paper was quite smooth and i needed lots of glue to keep everything stuck on.. and the color layout had to use the colors brown/kraft blue and yellow (but i used a butter yellow) all photos follow the theme of water!! thanks for popping in.. and thanks for any comments!!

my daughter hannah

i must be feeling a 'soft' today. my daughter hannah has turned 19. and i wonder where the time has gone. looking through some layouts of her and remembering how cute she was and how grown up she wants to be now...oh dear.. i cant help but hope and pray she makes the best choices for her life...you cant put an old head on young shoulders..and there are times when the young person doesn't want to heed the words of their parents..so my dear hannah.. i love you so very much.. and i hope you have the best life and that God will always be there with you...

out of the hat challenge

wow the first of the month seems to come so quickly these days, and with it comes new scrap challenges. i have been enjoying being a part of the challenges that i find myself stumbling across as i hop from blog to blog. the latest i have done is the october out of the hat challenge which called for a book page, scallops and a hand made embellishment to be included in the layout.. my hand made embellishment is the kite, which looks great with the colorful ricrak attached.. sorry the photo has a mauve tinge to it that is how it turned out.. must try and be a bit more professional in putting photos on my blog!!

something different...

in the early years of scrapping i did some 'funny' things.. well i thought they were at the time.. like cutting up the photos, or cutting out bits of the photo.. but now i have seen these things done in many other layouts.. and they aren't so unusual at all really!!!
like cutting the photos to make the letters of a word...(this layout was done in 2007)

or totally cutting out the background to just have the bit of the photo you want like just my daughters face and bunny ears in this easter layout (2008)

or what about staging the photo so it can be used in the layout.. like this one where my daughter looks like she is holding the letters!! (done in 2007)

or cutting out the photo to fit the layout (looks like my daughter is hanging off a big 7!!) (this layout was done in 2008)

its all good fun really! that is what is so good about scrapbooking... there are no rules, and you are only limited by your imagination... so i hope you have some fun ideas from this...  and have a great day!!
