Just a Country girl - AFSC

Greetings! I trust this finds you all well and have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas.. I had a lovely Christmas shared with my Hubby, 4 kids and my Mum and Dad for lunch, and my two eldest kids stayed 2 nights here so we were able to just relax and I enjoyed having them  around for the 2 days..

This is how we spent the first bit of Christmas, giving and unwrapping pressy's!

I love it!!

and then on Friday we had a birthday girl here... My DD turned 12... and no birthday is complete without a yummy cake... a jelly cream sponge!!

So needless to say I have not had much scrap time.... HOWEVER!! Today I HAD to scrap, I was suffering from a serious case of scrap deprivation!!! and what better way to start the mojo then with a sketch..
I had this one from AFSC which looks like this..
I turned the sketch like this.....

and my layout looks like this.....

I have used a mix of older Kaiser papers. stamps and wood flourishes..

Well thank you all for coming by and I am so appreciative of all the comments you leave..
Perhaps I may get time to scrap again this year......... But if I don't, I wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope 2013 is a good one for us all....

OUAS December and SOUS card #2

Good evening to you! How is your week going? Are you all ready for Christmas? I am pretty much on schedule, and have the last minute cooking to do in the next few days.. I have 3 different Christmas balls, cinnamon and honey biscuits, cherry and almond slice (which is my Hubbys fav..) and rocky road in my fridge.. So it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

Today however I took some time for me.. to scrap... and as I had just taken some photos of my DD for this Christmas I was itching to use one of those photos and it suited the challenge over on OUAS which is to use this lovely sketch and create using the theme of "It's December".....

The sketch...

and my layout.. I pretty much stuck to the sketch and my journalling says....

   December is.....

the most wonderful time of the year.. You are on school holidays, then we have Christmas, and on the 28th we celebrate your BIRTHDAY!! Lots of reasons to smile...

some closer views...

I have used the Kaiser Merry and Bright range of papers, the gorgeous big flower is a Manor House with DA and petaloo flowers beside it, the clock chippie is Imaginarim, and the flourish chippie is Twiddleybitz..they are inked with gold..

And the second card sketch is up for SOUS and the sketch looks like this..

and my card looks like this..

I know it is an extremely busy time for us all, but if you feel like creating and don't have time for a layout, then this is a lovely card sketch to follow...

Thanks so very much for coming by, and thank you for the really wonderful comments you leave me on my blog.. I do appreciate each and every one of them....

And if I don't get to post again before Christmas Day, then I do wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with love and thankfulness..  and I would love to leave you with one of my favourite verses which sums up Christmas so very well for me...

So from my Family to Yours.....

New Bird Word and an announcement from BITW!!

New Challenge Word ***Holiday***...and an announcement....

I realize that our new challenge word today HOLIDAY has different meanings throughout the world.  Here in the USA the word HOLIDAY mostly coincides with special days like New Years Day, our Independence Day, Christmas, etc.  I also realize that overseas the word HOLIDAY can mean something similar to how we use the word vacation.  With all of that said I am excited to see the new layout posts for this challenge.  I would imagine we will see beach pages, Christmas pages and a variety of others.
Now, before I get on to posting the wonderful and beautiful Design Team pages, I have an announcement.  As many of you know I am due to have a baby in February.  I also have a sixteen month old son and I do work full-time.  I am really starting to feel the strain of not having enough time.  I have written at length about this with my current Design Team and have contemplated as to how to go forward with BITW.  For the moment I have decided to continue on into the new year; however instead of having two words per month we are going to change to one word per month.  I have not entirely decided as to what day to release the new word and am looking for opinions!  Please let me know.  I know there are many other challenge sites out there and more pop up nearly every day, so your ideas as to when would be the best time are very much appreciated.  In addition to one word per month, I will also be looking for new Design Team members, so in early January we will be having a Design Team call!! I always love those!!  We will not have a new word release in January and will start again in February.

That was from Wendy the co-coordinator of BITW blog..  Pop on over HERE and have a look at what the DT has come up with using the word Holiday for the title or in journalling or just on the layout...

My layout was created using the new papers from Kaiser Tropicana, they suited my photo which I took when my Hubby and I were in Fiji nearly 10 years ago..Such a beautiful place  and I look forward to one day going back there...

I have used the word Holiday and put it on my layout...

and closer...

Thanks so much for all the comments on my last post, I have been busy off doing stuff getting ready for Christmas,  shopping, cleaning, wrapping presents, having end of year lunch with friends, getting my hair done, and cooking... and scrapping has been way down the list of things to do!!!
I hope you are having a great week, take care if you are traveling in this 'holiday' season!!

Thanks for coming by !!

Together for Christmas - WW1

Greetings!!

How are your Christmas preparations going? Mine... very slowly...!! I may have to stay out of my scrap room and do some planning for Christmas Day or I will be one of the mad women shopping on Christmas Eve!!

I have created a layout for the WHITE WITH ONE December Challenge which is to use white, red and a christmas photo... I had this photo of my kids taken on Christmas Day 2010 and it warms my heart to see them all together.. Last year my daughter Hannah was in the UK for Christmas and we really missed having her with us... I am looking forward to having the kids all together this year..

Together for Christmas..

and a bit closer..

and silly me... must be the silly season!! I didn't read the criteria for Kraft it up properly.. all I wrote down on my challenge list was to do a layout about what you want for Christmas.. So I did a layout about my DD losing her top teeth before Christmas ...instead of what "I" want for Christmas.... and so I won't put it in the challenge, but I will just put it up here...

All I want for Chrithmath is my two front teeth...

Love that Christmas stocking banner!!

Well I really had better start to think about Christmas.. it is gunna creep up on me for sure!!

Thanks for dropping by, and for any comments you leave me.. thank you!!

SOUS Dec 5 card sketch.

Good evening! (well it is here at the moment!)
My first card sketch as DT for SOUS has been revealed on the blog... I have found that by doing the sketches I have become more confident at creating cards as well as making new scrapping friends..

The lovely sketch..

Nisha needed a thank you card for her R,I, teacher this year, so I used this sketch and made a little card that she gave to her teacher to say thank you for being a great teacher..
I used ribbon for the strips and 3-D stickers for the flowers..

So if you need some inspiration to give cards a go ( they are great for using the scraps of paper that are left over from a layout as well as they are there when you just want to make some ones day a little brighter) then pop over to the SOUS blog and have  a look at the other DT wonderful cards and create a card..

Thanks for your visit and thank you for any comments too!

New Bird Word - CREATE

Well Hello to you on this hot summer day! I hope you are all enjoying this first week of December!! Not long until we celebrate Christmas, and spend time with those we love...
But until then... the new word is up for BIRD IS THE WORD and it is CREATE.. and this I hope will be an easier word to use in your title or journalling...

My youngest daughter has the most beautiful smile and the most delightful giggle and  she has brought so much happiness into my heart....

Some people pursue happiness... others create it....

I love this photo and I love those frangipani flowers.. they are so fresh and summery...

Thanks for coming by, and perhaps you may get some time to CREATE!! Enjoy the season of Christmas..
and thank you for the  wonderful comments you leave me too!!

December sketch for SWAT!

Well Hello December! I have been out tonight to the Carols by Candelight and that is the first bit of evidence that Christmas is on its way!!

The new sketch for Sketches with a Twist for December is this...

and the twist this month is to use glitter... or kindy glitz...

and my layout is...

and a bit closer...

I have used kindy glitz as well as some old die cuts from K&Co that have glitter on the edges...  I felt this is a fun sketch with lots of inspiration so I went with fun photos of my DD with our little dogs and bright colors...

Thanks for your visit and I really am blown away by your lovely comments !!
